I have a strange feeling that we are a subset of a larger reality, not because our reality is false but because it appears local. The more I observe existence itself, the more I notice that everything seems to render through structure. Nothing appears from nowhere. Everything emerges through a coherent process. A seed becomes a tree, a tree renders fruit, a mind renders ideas, a civilization renders technology, and technology eventually renders AI. Each layer appears to emerge from a more foundational layer beneath it. This is why I do not think computers are doing anything fundamentally new. Computers did not create mathematics. Mathematics made computation possible. AI did not create intelligence. AI emerged through a path that became accessible once enough coherence was discovered. The possibility already existed within the structure. We simply discovered a route through it. The more I think about it, the more progress itself begins to look less like creation and more like discovery. It feels as though reality contains possibilities waiting to render once sufficient coherence is achieved. Then I started wondering if humans themselves occupy a similar position. A computer renders information for us, yet it may never fully comprehend the reality in which that information becomes meaningful. It participates in a process larger than itself. What if we are doing the same thing? What if our experiences, discoveries, creations, thoughts, and consciousness are rendering something beyond our own local domain? Not necessarily for beings above us, and not necessarily for a higher intelligence, but perhaps for a larger coherence structure whose totality we cannot perceive from where we currently stand. The reason this thought continues to stay with me is because every layer of reality appears to be feeding into another layer. The tree renders fruit. The fruit renders seeds. The seeds render more trees. Humans render ideas. Ideas render civilizations. Civilizations render technologies. Technologies render new possibilities. Everything appears recursive. Everything appears connected. Everything appears to participate in a process larger than itself while only having access to a local perspective of that process. If locality is real, then perhaps what we call reality is not the whole structure but only the part currently rendered to us. Perhaps we are not observing reality itself but our local position within it. And perhaps what we call discovery is simply the gradual unveiling of a coherence structure so vast that we can only experience it one rendered possibility at a time.
